This question type generates a random number based on the parameters set by the researcher (min, max, and decimal places). The random number will not be seen by the participant but will be saved with the responses. The random number variable can be used with branching logic to determine which questions are displayed to the participant during an assessment.

Type a variable name, select random number generator for the question type, then click “Next” to go to the settings form.

Ranges can be set by entering a minimum value and maximum value. After setting the minimum and maximum value, decimal places can be set (i.e., “0” represents a whole number, “1” represents values to the tenth, “2” represents values to the hundredth, etc.). After values have been set, click “Done” to save the question.
