Charts

The chart question type can be used for visual representation in an assessment. There are two types of chart options, Goal and Streak.

Please note that once a chart question type is selected (goal or streak) it cannot be changed/edited into a different type of chart (i.e., changing/editing a goal chart into a streak chart or a streak chart into a goal chart). A new chart question will have to be created.

Goal

This chart type can be used to express progress towards a specific goal you want to achieve such as being active for a specific amount of minutes during the day or days of not smoking.

For this example, we ask the participant if they smoked today by asking a yes or no question. If they answer no, the occurrence will count as goal met, but if they answer yes, the occurrence will count as goal not met.

Start by first creating a radio question type.

Next, enter responses as Yes=1 and No=2. This will be setup in that if the participant answers “No”, then that occurrence will be added as “Goal Met”, but if the participant answers “Yes”, then that occurrence will be added to “Goal Not Met” on the goal chart.

Next create a chart question type and complete the fields (Description is optional).

The next form (right) allows you to select what type of chart to create (e.g., Goals Chart or Streak Chart). Since the value for No=2 we enter 2 into the goal minimum and maximum. This can also be used in ranges. Now every time the participant answers No, the chart question type identifies this as meeting the goal of not smoking today.

Hover over the “i” for additional information for that item.

This chart can be added to a component as a visual aid to show a healthy habit such as smoke-free days.

For this example, we ask the participant if they have smoked today. If they answer no, the streak counter will go up by one, but if they answer yes, the streak counter will reset to zero.

Start by first creating a radio question type.

Next, enter responses as Yes=1 and No=2. This will be setup in that if the participant answers “No”, then the streak will increase by one, but if the participant answers “Yes”, then the streak will reset to zero.

Next create a chart question type and complete the fields (Description is optional).

The settings form allows you to customize the streak message, streak color, streak count color, and the value to determine what is considered a streak.
